We walk your line, confirm camera and lighting geometry at each coding station, and scope the codes, fonts and substrates to be read.
The model trains on your own codes, fonts and substrates, including the badly printed ones, not a generic character library. Training uses 20 samples per defect.

OCR reads characters and tells you what they say. OCV checks the characters against what they are supposed to say and passes or fails the pack. A date code needs both: read the printed date, then verify it matches the batch record before that pack leaves the line.
Yes, and these are the surfaces that produce most no-reads. Round bottles, foil lids, dark-on-dark inkjet and laser marks on bare metal all shift with the light. KOMPASS is trained on your substrates under your lighting, and modular hardware adds the angle the code needs to be legible.
Yes. Characters with no ink behind them are read from shape and shadow rather than contrast, which is why lighting geometry matters more than resolution. Stamped part numbers, embossed date codes on caps, engraved serials and direct part marks are all read from the same camera position.
No, and the distinction matters. A barcode verifier is a handheld instrument that grades a code against ISO or ANSI print-quality standards, usually offline on a sample. KOMPASS verifies inline, on every pack, that the code reads and carries the right value. Many plants run both, for different jobs.
